Among the ministries which are expected to be called includes the Finance Ministry, Housing and Local Government Ministry, Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, Home Ministry, Defence Ministry, Finance Ministry, and Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.
PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said that the issues touched by the committee does not involve large amount of funds, but it concerns ministries and agencies which have not previously been called up by the committee – including science, technology and innovation ministry (MOSTI), National Population and Family Development Board Malaysia (LPPKN) and Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) .
"It is our responsibility to look into these issues and probe further into the cases which have been highlighted in the AG report," he told media.
Nur Jazlan added that these ministries and agencies are expected to be called up before the beginning of the next parliamentary session in June.
Among the ministries expected to be called up includes the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry on its three people's housing projects (PPR) in Sabah which has yet to be completed, the Home Ministry on the issue of unsatisfactory police quarters, The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry on the implementation of its free mammogram programme, and the Natural Resources and the Environment Ministry on its management of FRIM.
Nur Jazlan also pointed out that projects procured through direct negotiations remain problematic.
“If suitable, do have an open tender system. Direct negotiation in construction projects is not necessary as many contractors are available,” he said.
He added that awarding contracts was up to the prerogative of the Government.
