Celcom Axiata Bhd will invest RM100 million as part of its commitment in maintaining communication services and increasing network restoration efforts in flood-risk areas.
Celcom acknowledged its critical role in keeping its network up and running during catastrophic conditions in the east coast.
Chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly said the telco recognised the importance of full connectivity in times of crisis – not only for residents in affected areas, but also for relief teams and agencies working round the clock to deliver aid.
“The recent floods (in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Johor), Malaysia’s worst in decades, were a wake-up call to us on the importance of an effective flood mitigation planning and an immediate disaster response to alleviate the devastating effects.”
